A significant project for the national air hub
The new terminal project at Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca is part of a long-term vision to reposition the facility as a regional and continental air hub. Given the continued growth in passenger traffic and Morocco’s ambitions for international connectivity, the expansion and modernization of the airport have become a strategic necessity.
In this context, the National Airports Office has launched a series of tenders for the initial structural works of the future terminal. One of these key contracts has just been awarded to Société Générale des Travaux du Maroc, a historical player in the national construction sector.
SGTM stands out in a highly competitive field
SGTM was selected following a competitive process that included several large groups in the sector. Its proposal was deemed compliant with the technical and economic requirements set by the project owner, in a project where deadlines, safety, and quality constraints are particularly high.
This contract involves essential preparatory works for the construction of the new terminal, representing a critical phase for the continuation of the project. The award to SGTM confirms the trust placed in the group for projects with significant technical complexity and high strategic value.
A new terminal with international ambitions
The future terminal of Mohammed V Airport is expected to profoundly transform the passenger experience and operational capacity of the facility. Designed to accommodate a significant increase in traffic, it aims to enhance Casablanca's competitiveness against major Mediterranean and African hubs.
Beyond increasing capacity, the project includes modern infrastructures that integrate international standards for efficiency, safety, and environmental performance. It is also part of a strategy for better interconnection with national transportation networks.
A strong signal for the Moroccan construction sector
The award of this contract to SGTM extends beyond just the airport context. It sends a clear signal about the central role of Moroccan companies in executing the major structural projects of the country. In a context of rising public investments, this project is expected to generate significant economic benefits in terms of employment, subcontracting, and knowledge transfer.
Ultimately, the new terminal of Mohammed V Airport is set to become one of the symbols of the modernization of Moroccan infrastructure, at the intersection of the Kingdom's economic, tourism, and geopolitical challenges.
