A grand comeback for a festival that has become an institution
From November 28 to December 6, 2025, Marrakech will host a new edition of the International Film Festival, reinforcing its status as a major event in global cinema. The ochre city regains its glamorous atmosphere, blending red carpets, unique encounters, and highly anticipated screenings. After several editions marked by a challenging context, this year signals a return to full ambition.
An Exceptional International Jury
The official jury will be chaired by South Korean director Bong Joon-ho, a key figure in contemporary cinema. Joining him are prominent personalities: actresses Jenna Ortega and Anya Taylor-Joy, French director Julia Ducournau, Iranian actor Payman Maadi, Brazilian filmmaker Karim Aïnouz, Canadian director Celine Song, and Moroccan director Hakim Belabbes. This composition reflects the geographical and artistic diversity of the festival.
A Rich Lineup Featuring 82 Films from 31 Countries
FIFM 2025 offers an ambitious selection with 82 films from 31 countries. Competing feature films, world premieres, socially engaged films, bold productions… the diversity of works highlights international creativity. Several films supported by the Atlas Workshops—the festival's mentoring program—are also on the schedule, confirming Marrakech's importance in the emergence of new talents.
Celebrating African Cinema
Staying true to its continental mission, the festival places a central focus on African cinema. The section dedicated to Moroccan and African works allows for the discovery of new voices and narratives that are rarely visible on international circuits. Marrakech remains one of the few global platforms offering such strong visibility to filmmakers from the continent.
Much-Anticipated Tributes and Masterclasses
The 2025 edition will pay tribute to several major figures in global cinema. Exceptional masterclasses are also scheduled with internationally recognized directors and actors, providing a unique opportunity for interaction with the public and industry professionals.
Marrakech, Cinema Capital and Hub for Talent
Beyond the screenings, the festival plays a structuring role for the Moroccan film industry. Workshops, professional meetings, and exchange spaces strengthen collaborations between local and international creators. For a week, Marrakech becomes a crossroads where global stars, emerging talents, and industry professionals converge, confirming its central role in the regional and international cinematic landscape.
