Morocco is approaching the final stretch of organizing CAN 2025 with indicators significantly exceeding initial expectations. The strong demand for tickets has sent a first signal: over 800,000 tickets were sold by the end of November 2025, an unprecedented level for this stage of a continental competition. This dynamic confirms the attractiveness of the tournament and public confidence in the Kingdom's ability to host a large-scale event.
The stadiums, the heart of the operation, show a high rate of progress. The complexes in Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, Agadir, Tangier, and Oujda have completed major renovation and certification operations. Several venues have undergone significant technological upgrades, including new lighting systems, state-of-the-art pitches, and redesigned hospitality spaces for media and supporters. Remaining work mainly concerns technical adjustments and operational testing.
Fouzi Lekjaa has made numerous statements in recent days, emphasizing that Morocco is approaching the CAN “with a level of organization never seen on the continent.” He also confirmed that international demand for hospitality packages and combined travel exceeds initial projections. Authorities are now counting on more than one million visitors during the tournament period, including fans, delegations, and technical teams from international broadcasters.
The transportation aspect is another major component of the preparations. Royal Air Maroc has announced a special plan that includes a significant increase in the number of flights to Casablanca, Marrakech, and Tangier, along with promotional fares to facilitate the movement of African supporters. Train stations and road networks have also enhanced their capacity, while specific traffic plans will be activated around the stadiums.
On the security front, an exceptional arrangement is being put in place in coordination with several specialized services. Authorities are emphasizing advanced organization, based on the smooth management of flows, incident prevention, and the safety of teams and supporters. Several operational meetings were held in November and December to finalize crowd management and emergency protocols.
CAN 2025 represents not only a sporting challenge for Morocco but also an opportunity for image and sports diplomacy. By hosting an event followed by hundreds of millions of viewers, the Kingdom aims to consolidate its position as the African capital of football and demonstrate its capacity to organize world-class competitions, continuing from its joint bid for the 2030 World Cup.
With just weeks to go before kickoff, the signals remain positive. The infrastructure is ready, public mobilization is strong, and logistical arrangements are being set in place. In 2025, Morocco could offer one of the most successful editions in the history of the CAN.
